Fatty alcohols are aliphatic alcohols derived from natural fats and oils originating in plants, but also synthesized in animals and algae. We normally produce fatty alcohols from naturally occurring vegetables oils such as palm kernel oil. The industrial importance of fatty alcohols is based on the large number of reactions the hydroxyl group may undergo. ELOCOL™ is used in raw materials for surfactants, conditioners, plasticizers, synthetic resin lubricants and other applications.
